I. Yefremov – Stories

Hello all.  It’s been a long time since I’ve updated.  Sorry for the delay, was busy went on vacation, busy again etc.  Anyhow, here’s a children’s adventure book from the Foreign Language Publishing House, 1954.  Sort of a boy’s own for the Young Pioneers.  Contains some dramatic colour plates.  The stories are Jules Verne-like; adventure science fiction.   This has to be one of my favorite covers in all my collection.  A mountain climber against a cloudy sky.

  1. I have a copy of Alexei Tolstoy’s childrens book – Nikita’s Childhood but cannot find this edition listed anywhere. Has green boards with the brow/yellow/cream illustrations on the front of a boy and above his head are two oval portraits of a man and a woman.Copyright page has the author’s name in russian syllabics and says translated from the russian, designed by M. Skobelev and A. Yeliseyev. An ideas on how to find it online?

  2. Dear Philip Dion, Just saw your blogspot after a friend passed the link to me. Great collection and great work! I represent a Trust involved in publishing and distributing children’s books in Telugu language (spoken in Andhra Pradesh, India). I am collecting Soviet children’s books in English and Telugu and have about 200 of them. Please visit arvindguptatoys.com for free soft copies of several books, in it, in the English section, there is a section titled Soviet Classical Literature. Tolstoy’s What then must be done and several titles of Chingiz Itmatov or on this website. I didn’t get to see titles like Don’t Shoot the White Swans on your blogspot. In solidarity, K. Suresh
