Igor Zaitsev (ed.) – Soviet Rock
This is one of the latest (newest) books in my collection, from 1991, right at the end of things, and it shows. The book discusses punk, metal etc., but goes farther and outlines some of the non-socialist politics around the music [anarchist punks, nationalist and fascist metal fans]. This is something that the Progress publishers would never have touched in earlier years. The design is cutting edge for Progress too, using a kind of a punk ‘zine aesthetic, if this idea was described to a designer who had never actually seen a punk ‘zine before.
